OVERVIEW:

For National space week 2024, Scouts were launching a new space badge at the National Space Centre in Leicester. The new badge aims to inspire the next generation of leaders in the space field by teaching children about science, astronomy and aviation.

To celebrate this launch of the new space badge, the Scouts required a space themed animation to play during the event on a cinematic screen in the planetarium.

THE OUTCOME

I storyboarded and created a short looped space theme animation. Following a spacecraft navigating through space and past Scout section space badges, to reveal the brand new Mission 24 badge, before returning to Earth. As well as this animation, I designed and developed pull-up banners and supporting marketing material, designed to inspire young people at the event. Audio special effects were created by audio by sound engineer Toby Griffin. https://tobygriffin.com/

At the event over 500 members of Scouts and their leaders landed at the National Space Centre in Leicester for launch the new Scouts space badge. There they met UK Space Agency astronaut Meganne Christian FRAeS, who spoke with Scouts and hoped to encourage more young people to pursue a career in space.
