Hi, I'm Jo Barden

I'm a freelance graphic designer based in London, with over 20 years of experience working in-house, agency and freelancing. I love what I do, and am passionate about bringing ideas to life through bold, thoughtful design from ideation through to completion.

After earning a degree in Graphic Design in 2007, I’ve built a career supporting businesses, with creative solutions and strategic design that helps amplify their message and make an impact.

In 2021, I launched my business, Jo Barden Design. Jumping into the world of freelance to focus on working directly with purpose-driven clients to build strong, meaningful brands.

I've worked on a wide range of projects from book design, brand guidelines, campaigns, posters, to animation and presentations and bid submissions. Whether I'm creating a new identity from the ground up, evolving an existing brand or creating new assets. I love working closely with clients as an extension of their team. Bringing experience, energy, and a practical, down-to-earth mindset to every project.

Get to know me a little better with three facts about me...

My favourite part time job

Whilst I was studying graphic design, I had a part time job at Little Chef – yes the motorway restaurant know for it's all-day breakfasts. Whilst the food wasn't exactly Michelin-starred, being front of house, working with friends and chatting to customers taught me a lot about people and patience!

I love learning

I'm always learning new skills, staying up-to-date with design tools and trends adds depth to what I can offer my clients, and keeps my inner geek fulfilled. Whether it's new software developments or inspiring new work in the industry, my eyes are always peeled.

Away from my desk

When I'm away from my desk, you can find me outdoors in forests, playing sports or bike riding with my two boys and husband.
