Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

At Jo Barden Design Ltd, I am committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors to my website and my clients. This Privacy Policy outlines how I collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. The Data I Collect and Why I Collect It
I only collect personal data that you voluntarily provide to me when you interact with my website or enquire about my services. This may include:

  • Contact Information: Your name, email address, phone number, and organisation name when you fill out a contact form or book a call. I use this purely to respond to your enquiry and discuss potential design collaboration.

  • Billing & Client Data: If we work together, I will collect standard business data (billing addresses, company registration details, and financial info) necessary to process invoices and fulfil our contract.

  • Website Analytics: I use basic website analytics (via Wix and Google Analytics) to view anonymous data about how visitors use my site (e.g., pages viewed, time spent on site). This does not identify you personally and is used solely to improve the website experience.

2. Legal Basis for Processing Data
Under the UK GDPR, the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information are:

  • Your Consent: You provide explicit consent when filling out a contact form. You can remove your consent at any time by contacting me directly.

  • Contractual Obligation: Processing your data is necessary to prepare, enter into, or fulfil a business contract with your organisation (such as a Design Day or Monthly Retainer).

  • Legitimate Interests: To safely and efficiently run my day-to-day design studio operations.

3. Sharing Your Information
I hate spam as much as you do. I will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
The only times your data is shared are with trusted, secure third-party service providers who help run my business operations (such as my invoicing platform, website hosting provider, or email software). These providers are strictly bound by confidentiality agreements and UK data compliance laws.

4. Data Security and Retention
I take data security seriously. Your information is stored securely on protected devices and encrypted cloud services.
I will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes I collected it for, including satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements (for example, UK tax law requires keeping invoice records for 6 years).

5. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have complete control over your data. Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask for copies of your personal information.

  • Ask me to rectify inaccurate information or complete incomplete data.

  • Ask me to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Object to or restrict the processing of your data.

  • Request the transfer of your data to another organisation.

You will never have to pay a fee to exercise these rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.

6. Cookies
My website uses cookies to improve performance and user experience. Cookies are small text files placed on your device. You can choose to accept or decline cookies using the banner on my website, or by adjusting your browser settings.

7. How to Contact Me
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or if you would like to exercise any of your data rights, please contact me directly:
