Takeover
SERVICES:
Logo design, colour direction, brand pattern, event lanyards
OVERVIEW:
Takeover Gilwell was a new event programme which launched in Summer 2023. Inviting young people to immerse themselves in nature, camp under the stars and learn new skills in the week-long jamboree-style event for Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.
A new visual identity was required, and it was essential that the event logo worked along side the three Scout section's logos, while appealing to the target audience of Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. The identity needed to transition across apparel, merchandise, signage, and digital.
Two years later, Takeover Gilwell has extended it's reach to the two younger Sections at Scouts, Beavers and Squirrels. Both requiring a logo lock-up, as well as a bold custom brand pattern to compliment the existing Section branding, but is also fun and stands out.

THE OUTCOME
I developed a core typographic logo, with subtle details of rugged imperfections suggestive of the great outdoors. Using this logotype across the section logos for Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, I created bold and distinct patterns for each section. Each section has a unique bold pattern that pairs with the logo. The logotype paired with each pattern creates a distinctive look and feel for each section, whilst creating opportunities to use on communications, develop collectable merchandise for members and deliver a fun and playful aspect into the brand. Due to the success of Takeover, In 2025 I created two more logos and patterns for the remaining sections, Squirrels and Beavers.
